The Disciples Bookshelf

The Disciple’s Bookshelf exists to equip our church family with trusted, Christ-centered reading that moves us toward the mission and vision God has given us. Each recommended book is chosen to inspire growth, spark meaningful conversation, and encourage practical steps of discipleship in daily life. At times these books will align with current teaching series—such as “Seek Like Jesus,” “Reach Like Jesus,” and “Build Like Jesus”—and at other times they will simply reflect the broader direction (O.W.N.) we are pursuing together as a church. Our hope is that these resources help every believer take intentional steps toward Outreach, Worship, and Nurture.

Discover where God is leading us in 2026—The Disciple’s Bookshelf is your invitation to grow deeper, think bigger, and move with purpose. Pick up one or all of these books and grow your faith in step with our church’s vision.

Instruments In The Redeemers Hand

God’s primary tool for changing lives is people. In Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, Paul David Tripp shows how ordinary believers can be used by God to bring hope, truth, and transformation into the lives of others.
This book helps readers see that discipleship isn’t reserved for pastors or counselors—it’s the calling of every Christian. As we build meaningful relationships, listen well, and speak the truth of the gospel with grace, God uses us to shape one another into the likeness of Christ.
Both deeply practical and spiritually challenging, this book equips the church to care for one another the way Jesus intended—through everyday relationships filled with truth, love, and the redeeming work of Christ.

I Am A Church Member

What if church membership was more than attendance—what if it was a calling? In I Am a Church Member, Thom Rainer invites believers to rediscover the joy and responsibility of belonging to the body of Christ. Instead of approaching church as consumers, followers of Jesus are called to serve, encourage, and pursue unity together.
In a simple and practical way, this short book challenges readers to embrace a biblical vision of church life where every member plays a meaningful role. It’s an invitation to move from sitting on the sidelines to investing deeply in the mission, health, and people of your local church.
A helpful starting point for anyone who wants to grow from simply attending church to truly being part of it.

I Once Was Lost

I Once Was Lost reframes evangelism as a relational journey, built around five spiritual thresholds that people move through on their way toward faith, beginning with trust and curiosity. The book emphasizes cultivating genuine relationships, listening well, and discerning where someone is spiritually rather than rushing for decisions. At its core, it calls believers to cooperate with the Holy Spirit by practicing presence, patience, and prayerful awareness. If you want your walk with the Lord to naturally overflow into meaningful gospel conversations, this book helps you develop habits that make outreach relational, faithful, and deeply human.

Organic Outreach for Ordinary People

In Organic Outreach for Ordinary People, Kevin Harney shows that effective evangelism flows from everyday faithfulness. The book centers on three simple practices: intentional prayer for people, authentic relationships, and living visibly under the reign of Jesus. Rather than adding pressure, Harney invites believers to align their lives so that words about Christ make sense in the context of love, integrity, and service. If you long for a life where following Jesus naturally invites others to explore Him, this book will help you build habits of outreach that are sustainable, relational, and rooted in grace.

Habits of Grace

David Mathis’ Habits of Grace shows how simple, daily rhythms—hearing God’s voice through His Word, having God’s ear in prayer, and belonging to His body in fellowship—become channels through which we regularly meet with and enjoy Jesus. Rather than offering a checklist, Mathis invites readers into a lifestyle shaped by grace, where spiritual disciplines are not burdens but gifts. As these habits take root, they open us to God’s ongoing work of renewing our hearts, strengthening our faith, and deepening our joy in Him. If you long for a richer, more resilient walk with Christ, this book will help you build the kinds of practices that draw you closer to the Lord day after day.

Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life

Donald Whitney’s Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life shows how intentional practices—such as Bible intake, prayer, worship, service, and more—become God-given means for growing in godliness. Rather than treating these disciplines as legalistic duties, Whitney frames them as pathways to experiencing the presence, power, and satisfaction of Christ. As believers embrace these rhythms, they cultivate maturity, clarity, and spiritual strength that anchor them in every season of life. If you desire a deeper walk with God, this book will equip you with time-tested habits that open your life to His transforming grace.
