What is your role at Grace Church?
I am the lead pastor at Grace.
Tell us about your family.
I met my wife (Laura) when we were kids. Though we lived 1,000 miles apart, our moms were college roommates who stayed in touch over the years. Laura and I were married in 2012 and are now parents to Roman, Scarlett, Gemma. One of our favorite things as a family is going to the beach to swim and play in the sand.
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
In Joshua 1:9, the Lord calls Joshua to "be strong and courageous." I have always felt the Lord calling me to enter into this calling. In 1 Peter 5:6-7, we read about a humble, trusting posture that we should have before the Lord. The Lord has found ways to bring these passages back to my attention as He has reminded me of my calling and relationship with Him.
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
My parents, Bruce Norman (Grandfather), Jacob Heib (Sunday School Teacher and Employer), Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, John Piper, and AW Tozer.
Go-to Worship Song?
There are many, but one song that I always am ready to come back to is "The Heart of Worship" by Matt Redman.
What is your hope for Grace Church?
My hope for Grace Church is that we would be a Jesus-centered community that embraces a culture of prayer, is purposeful about evangelism, and is focused on discipleship that inspires commitment to The Great Commandment (Mt. 22:36-38) and The Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20).

What is your role at Grace Church?
I am the Associate Pastor of Discipleship. My main areas of responsibility are overseeing life groups, men’s ministry, and fellowship events.
Tell us about your family.
I am married to Jessica. We have been married nearly 22 years and I can’t imagine living this life without her. She truly is my best friend. We met while in college at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. We have served the Church in The Chicagoland Area, New Jersey just outside of NYC, and for the last 15+ years right here at Grace Church. We have been blessed with 4 great kids. Jenna (19), Chase (17), Sawyer (13), and Emerson (10).
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
Ephesians 4:1-2: “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
Where to begin! I have had countless teachers, professors and pastors personally invest in me. If I were to name a few it would be Pastor Stephen Patrick, our own Pastor Dave Hanson. There have been authors that have challenged me as well. I would place Paul Tripp at the top of that list.
Go-to Worship Song?
“In Christ Alone” by Stuart Townsend.
What is your hope for Grace Church?
I firmly believe that strong marriages produce strong families. Strong families create a strong church. As a church we are well on our way. That being said, it is my prayer that Grace Church becomes a body with regional influence. I would love to see her plant churches or campuses in the many small and under churched rural communities through out the Upper Peninsula. The UP needs Jesus this is why I believe God has blessed Grace Church and uniquely placed her in Delta County.

What is your role at Grace Church?
I am the Worship Pastor at Grace.
Tell us about your family.
Audrey, my wife, and I met in the fourth grade. She caught my eye not long after and we became good friends and then more as we went through our high school years... fast forward after 23 years of marriage and we have four mostly grown children. Our oldest is married and the others are working on that pretty steadily. They are a gift and a joy to us and we are grateful that we were able to raise them in Gladstone! Audrey and I enjoy music, learning new things, skiing, biking, hiking and generally adventures...and our family.
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
It's hard to choose only one or two but if I have to choose it would be the divine throne room exchanges of Isaiah 6:1-8 and Revelation 4:8-11. These accounts of God's manifest presence before the eyes of Isaiah or John stir my imagination and inspire awe. I come back to these over and over again.
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
Authors and teachers that have made an impact on me are Andrew Murray, AW Tozer, Francis Chan and Michael Heiser to name a few. My parents and home churches played a large role in helping me know and love the Lord. I have a love for many musicians and worship leaders in the Body of Christ, but I cut my teeth on artists like Michael Card, Matthew Ward, Phil Keaggy and Vineyard worship.
Go-to Worship Song?
The song "Is He Worthy?" by Andrew Peterson (popularized by Chris Tomlin/Shane and Shane) has really inspired me in the past couple years because of its unique call and answer style that crescendos in a proclamation that Jesus is Savior and King!
What is your hope for Grace Church?
My prayer for Grace Church is that they would continue to grow in the knowledge and grace and love of Jesus. And that they be known as grateful and joyful in Jesus.

What is your role at Grace Church?
Director of Children's Ministry.
Tell us about your family.
I met my husband, Jonathan at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where we both majored in education. We were married the summer after I graduated from college. God has blessed us with three wonderful children and a son-in-law; Grant, Madelyn (Jorge), and Marshall. Jon and I are thoroughly enjoying a new phase of life, grandparenting our granddaughter, Quinley.
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
My life verse: Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
My ministry verse: Psalm 78: 1-4 My people, hear my instruction; listen to the words from my mouth. I will declare wise sayings; I will speak mysteries from the past—things we have heard and known and that our ancestors have passed down to us. We will not hide them from their children but will tell a future generation the praiseworthy acts of the Lord, his might, and the wondrous works he has performed.
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
I was aware of my need for a Savior at the young age of five. I owe my knowledge of this need to my first godly influences, my Mom and Dad, and grandparents. My parents taught me not only from the Bible but through the example of how they lived their lives, built a relationship with God, and served Him wholeheartedly. Throughout my life, I have seen how God has strategically placed friends, teachers, and mentors in my path to help me grow and mature in my faith.
Go-to Worship Song?
Honey in the Rock - by Brooke Ligertwood and Brandon Lake. I don't have to worry, because God is enough; He is all I need.
What is your hope for Grace Church?
My hope is that Grace Church will continue to be a beacon in a dark world, beckoning the lost and weary. I pray that the children of Grace will learn about God and desire to have a deep, satisfying relationship with Him. May our children and our children's children talk of the mercies of the Lord and share the good news with those whom we come into contact with.

Tell us about your family.
My husband, Kevin, and I graduated from Escanaba, married in 1993, and moved to Wisconsin, where we raised our two children, Emily and Jake. We celebrate their marriages to Sean and Hazael, respectively, and welcomed our first grandchild in 2023, sweet Judah. We love the outdoors and have been exploring the beautiful Upper Peninsula since moving back in 2020. We enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, and living close to our family once again.
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
My life verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
My ministry verse is: "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building."
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
My sister-in-law, Tammy, introduced me to the Gospel and guided me to a solid church, Appleton Alliance, in 1997. Faithful women (Cindy, Nancy, Vicky Judy, & more!) mentored me in my early Christ-following years while my pastors shepherded and taught me the Word.
In recent years, the Lord has used Grace Church staff to deepen my understanding of grace, mercy, and unconditional obedience in a redemptive way.
Instead of being paralyzed with guilt, Saul/Paul's sin of persecuting the church led to his passion for boldness and truth as he constantly remembered his redemption in Christ. His example is encouraging and inspiring to me.
Go-to Worship Song?
I listen most consistently to Shane & Shane, Keith & Kristin Getty, and Grace Church's Spotify playlist. They are all focused on Christ, not humanity or our circumstances, and have become my prayers. (There are too many beautiful go-to songs to list!)
What is your hope for Grace Church?
I pray that the Lord will continue to reveal His saving grace, power, and vision to our church and pour it into our local community, our country, and the world. I pray that our leaders and congregation will make much of Him and eagerly join Christ in His work. All for His glory.

I grew up in Gladstone and was blessed to begin attending Grace Church with my family at age 5. I have two brothers who are both married to my beautiful, Godly sister-in-laws. In November 2023, our family celebrated the birth of the first grand-baby in the family (my nephew), Tobias. His name means "God is Good" and our hearts are so full of love and joy for our little guy.
A key passage or two of the Bible that has significantly impacted your life and ministry.
1 Corinthians 6:11 - "And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."
and
John 7:38 - "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
The Biblical characters Esther and David, my parents, Chuck & Kay Smith, Debbi Bryson, David & Ingalil Guzik, and Pastor Tim Haugen.
Go-to Worship Song?
Empty Me by Jeremy Camp & the lyrics to Your Love Oh Lord by Third Day are often on my mind.
What is your hope for Grace Church?
My hope for Grace Church is it that it would be a powerful, Spirit-filled channel of God's grace to the local community and larger U.P. area. My prayer is that when people visit, they would encounter & be transformed by the love and presence of Jesus through the worship and study of God's Word. My hope is that Grace would play a significant role in the tearing down of strongholds in the U.P. area of alcoholism, drug addiction, and suicide through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Who have been significant influences in your life as a follower of Jesus?
First, when I was a young child going through some hard times, my grandmother told me that "God had a plan for me," and while I didn't understand it ar the time, it stuck through my childhood until I became curious enough to seek God for myself.
Second, I discovered Pastor Arnold Murray from Shepherds Chapel on TV in the late 90's. At a time I was getting really serious about reading my Bible but lacked understanding. Pastor Murray taught the Bible in a way I had not experienced before and helped to grow my desire to seek and know God on a more personal level.
Finally, I have been blessed with all the family and staff at Grace Church, who through the years have shown love and kindness to all who enter through the doors.
Go-to Worship Song?

What is your hope for Grace Church?
To continue to see God's work in the church and community, but also that God would grow our desire and willingness to honor and serve Him with courage, boldness and love.
